Parsons X – Transforming Intersections In Austin
As we celebrate the launch of Parsons X, a transformative initiative to unify our company’s digital organization and move to a new delivery model, we checked in with the City of Austin, one of the winners of our Transforming Intersections Smart Cities Challenge. Austin won a trial of our Intelligent Intersections solution, which gathers data from intersections and applies advanced analytics and algorithms to provide mobility insights that can be used to reduce congestion, limit vehicle emissions, and improve safety.
We worked with Austin’s Smart Mobility Office to deploy our Intelligent Intersections solution and the City is excited to roll it out to users:
The City of Austin is currently working with Parsons and Amazon Web Services to pilot the Intelligent Intersections signal performance service on an important corridor within the City. Since late last year, this cloud-based service has been collecting crowd-sourced vehicle trajectory data and high-resolution signal data directly from our traffic signal controllers; and, utilizing this data, is currently providing us with access to traffic performance measures and analytics via a live dashboard and interactive reports. Ultimately, the system will also provide regular recommendations for signal timing improvements to help us to maintain a high level of service to Austin road users. We look forward to the roll-out and testing of this system later this year.”Joseph McKenzie, Project Manager, Smart Mobility Office, Austin Transportation Department
Our Intelligent Intersections solution, which runs on the Amazon Web Services cloud, is just one example of the digital innovation capabilities and partnerships that our Parsons X initiative will highlight and strengthen. By working with partners like Amazon, we will deliver cutting-edge solutions like Intelligent Intersections to create the future of critical infrastructure.
